The initial conversation

You do not need a technical brief to start a project. You simply need to tell me about your business and the problem you want to solve. Whether you need to increase local footfall, secure commercial contracts with a more professional image, or stop clients from messing you around with an automated booking system, my job is to translate that business problem into a technical solution.

We can discuss this over a coffee or a quick phone call. Once I understand your goals, I will provide a live concept design and a clear quote with flexible payment options.

Reviewing the concept and providing your content

Once we agree on a direction, I will build a live concept version of your website. To help you visualise the final product, I fill it with placeholder text, stock images, or information I find on your old social media pages. Sometimes this placeholder text will be completely made up just to show you how a section could look.

This is where I need your help. You know your business best. If you are happy with the structure of the concept, your job is simply to go through the page section by section and give me the real facts to replace the placeholders. I just need the raw details: your actual pricing, your real opening hours, where customers actually park, and your high-resolution photos. You do not need to be a copywriter; just give me the facts, and I will make them look great on the screen.

The two pricing paths

Most clients choose the 'Fully Managed Monthly' path. Instead of a massive upfront cost, you pay a small setup fee and a fixed monthly rate. This is a rent-to-own agreement. It covers the bespoke design, the hand-coded development, and your high-speed server space. It also includes ongoing security updates and technical maintenance.

For total transparency, I also offer a 'Build & Files Only' path. You pay a single one-off fee, and I hand over the raw Next.js website code. This is usually for businesses that already have their own IT team or existing web servers. If you choose this route, you are entirely responsible for configuring your server, deploying the code, and running your own backups.

Domains vs Hosting (The web address and the server)

People often use the terms interchangeably, but a domain and hosting are two separate things you need to run a website. The domain is your web address, like yourbusiness.co.uk. You pay a registrar a small yearly fee for the right to use this name.

Hosting refers to the physical server computer where your website files actually live. You pay a fee to keep this server running so customers can access your website at any time of day.

Protecting your web address

I offer two ways to handle your domain. I can purchase and manage it for you, invoicing you strictly at cost, or you can register it yourself and point the settings to my servers. If I manage it, I register it in your name. I never hold domains hostage, and I will transfer it to you immediately if you ever ask.

This is important because letting a domain expire is incredibly frustrating. If an old agency stops paying attention and your domain expires, automated bots hijack the address. You then end up having to fight in an auction, turning a nine-pound domain into an eighty-pound headache just to get your own business name back. I make sure this never happens to my clients.

True ownership and word of mouth

When you sign up with a massive directory or a cheap site builder, you rent that template forever. The second you stop paying, your website disappears. You own nothing.

My process is entirely different. At the end of your twelve-month contract, you own the source code completely. You can stay with me on a reduced standard hosting plan, or you can take your files to any other experienced developer to update in the future. I do not lock people in with slimy contracts. I do not have a sales team and I rarely cold-call. My business grows entirely through word-of-mouth. I go above and beyond for every client because I want people to look at your site and immediately ask who built it.

Direct Partnership

Total transparency.

I run my business the way I expect others to run theirs. No hidden fees, no jargon, and absolutely no holding your digital assets hostage. We agree on a plan, you provide the facts, I write the code, and your business grows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Once you have reviewed the concept and provided the real information (your prices, photos, and exact services), we do exactly two consolidated rounds of revisions to tidy everything up. Providing you send your content over quickly, a standard site can be live within two to three weeks.

I am always available to help. I guarantee a fixed hourly rate for your first twelve months. If you need to add a new service page or swap out photographs, I just bill for the exact time it takes to make the updates.
